Sometimes I am lucky enough to be on the receiving end of gift bags and in a recent one was this lovely little box with three tubes of eyeliner magic: the Julep Liquid Chameleon Eyeliner Trio.
Now you should know I'm an eyeliner addict. I am of the firm belief that if eyeliner is worn and applied properly it can change your life. Liquid eyeliner is my favorite, but it can be very difficult to find one that doesn't smudge yet can be easily corrected in the event you have a bit too much coffee before applying and it gets all over your face. The Julep Liquid Chameleon Eyeliner Trio is all that and more.
The box comes with a set of three smooth, dark, and slightly shimmery colors of liquid eyeliner.
When i first read the colors I thought they would look like an utter disco nightmare once applied and was apprehensive. I'm pretty minimalist when it comes to my style and while I appreciate the effect of strategically placed shimmer, I'm not one for glitter explosions outside of New Year's Eve, Gatsby Themed Parties, or the Oscars.
But I was pleasantly surprised at how subtle the colors and their shimmers were.
See? In most light they just look like varying shades of black and brown. But in the right light, they give a subtle hint of color and their metallics catch the light, drawing attention to the eye without screaming "LOOK AT MEEEEE!!!!!!"
Look at how subtle those difference are in the right light. And how lightly shimmery and metallic they are.
This trio could have very easily been the favorite of any 11 year-old girl with over-exaggerated colors and glitter for days, but instead they are a bit more grown up and a nod a sophisticated fun.
I must warn you though that if you aren't skilled at applying liquid eyeliner with a brush, it may take some practice to get a steady line. But I believe in you! Just keep trying and you'll eventually be an old pro!
The best part about this set is the price. At $30 ($10 a tube) you get designer cosmetics quality at a drug store prince
I highly recommend you give this trio a try. Click image to the left to get your set and let me know how it goes!
