I know I'm not one for New Year's resolutions, but at the beginning of every year I do feel the desire to make the most of the coming year. I'm imagining many of you have similar sentiments around this time of year and I'm also guessing that you, like me, are often at a loss for how to accomplish that.
Well, I have just the book for you! Gin Sander's The BIg Bucket List Book: 133 Experiences of a Lifetime. I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book and I have to say, I'm completely delighted by this whole concept.
This is book is a bit of a guidebook for experience. Built on the idea that we spend far too much time making our bucket lists rather than actually doing the things on them, this book gives you a ready-made list of activities and experiences, with every last bit of information you'd need to actually do them.
The book is divided in to 9 different sections, each with a theme (parties, food, DIY, skills to learn, the arts, giving back, travel, epic experiences, and glamorous getaways), the activities run the gamut from spend an evening in a wine cave to get silly at clown school. And just like a guidebook, every experience on the list has a nifty description, a list of resources (websites, email addresses, etc) and often the author's own account of her experience with the activity.
Sander's bits about her own experiences are such a lovely personal touch. Her voice is much like that of a friend who's just done something amazing and wants you to go do it as quickly as possible so you can spend hours chatting about it. These personal anecdotes give you the little boost of confidence, so you don't feel like you're going in blind.
The Big Bucket List Book is the perfect combination of whimsy and practicality, giving you just enough information and structure to tackle each and every item on the list, should you desire, while sparking your interest and reminding you that the world can be a magical place if only you break from routine and make an effort. I'll certainly be thumbing through it for ideas in 2016 (maybe you'll even see some posts come from it).
So whether you'd like to be in the background of an opera, dig up a fossil, or live in a castle, The Big Bucket List Book is for you! What are you waiting for? Buy the book and get to checking off items on your bucket list! (Link to the right >>>>)
