Remember the olden days when we had to print out pictures to see them? And even better, when someone you knew had a Polaroid camera and you and your friends would reenact those scenes from Clueless were Cher and Dionne made over Tai? If you don't remember this crucial montage, don't worry, I got your back gurrl/boiii.
Well my friends, things have come full circle and you can now relive those magical preteen days! All you need is the Fujifilm Instax Share Smartphone Printer!
It's this tiny little robot-looking printer you can load tiny instant film into, snap away on your smartphone, and then wirelessly print your pics! As an added bonus, if you hold the printer in front of your mouth, it looks like you're sticking out your tongue as it prints.
As weird as it is for those of us who grew up cherishing our disposable cameras and waiting patiently for a week to pick up our prints from Longs Drugstore, printed photos are kind of a novelty these days. Rarely do we see photos on anything other than a phone or a computer. As great as Instagram and everything are, printing out a picture (especially on instant film!) is just as much fun as it used to be! I'd completely forgotten the relative magic of watching a picture slowly appear before your eyes. It's strangely nice to have some delayed gratification.
This wee printer is super portable and is an instant hit in any group setting. You can pop it in your bag, bring it to your holiday parties, snap some pics with your friends, and people can take home the prints as a little memento of the evening.
I'm trying to come up with some DIY projects for cleverly displaying the pictures, but for now, they don't look half bad just on the fridge.
All you need to awaken some nostalgia and get started with this bad boy, is your smartphone/tablet, the printer itself, and the Fujifilm Instax Mini Instant Film. You can buy the printer and the film separately, or to get yourself started, there's a starter kit to get you going. With The Holidays just around the corner, it would make a pretty great gift for the documentarians in your life!
Check it out, let me know what you think and if you come up with any artsy and attractive ideas for displaying the pics around the house, tweet them and Instagram them my way! As always you can find me on Twitter and Instagram at @thebeeskneesmg!
